Elysse Magnotto-Cleary joined Sen. Wolf's team in December 2012. As Chief of Staff, Elysse serves as chief liaison between the Senator and executive agencies, legislative offices, district leaders, and interested parties. Elysse advises the Senator and staff on policy and regulatory matters and organizes the Senator's media and press outreach.
In 2013 and 2014, Elysse played a key role in drafting omnibus minimum wage and unemployment insurance legislation, which was signed into law in June 2014 as Chapter 144 of the Acts of 2014.
A native of western Pennsylvania, Elysse graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, focusing on foreign policy and Eastern European history. She has a Master's degree in Conflict Resolution with a concentration in Organizational Conflict and Mediation from the McCormack School of Public Policy at UMass Boston. In 2015, Elysse received the "Donald Paulson Award for Service to the Field," from the McCormack School in recognition of her ability to incorporate the principles and skills of conflict resolution in her work in state government.
Conversationally fluent in Spanish, Elysse co-founded a chapter of “Democrats Abroad” while living in Granada, Spain. Elysse has run four marathons, including the 2009 Boston Marathon to fundraise for the Perkins School for the Blind. She lives in Cambridge, MA with her husband and son.
